"VIP" sparked interest from the beginning and as more episodes air the drama's reputation only improves. Jang Nara, as expected, has been an important part of this. The veteran actress takes on a very competent role in "VIP", running the VIP service team at a major department store. But in addition to acting the role, Jang Nara has also made a point of looking it.
The main subtlety her wardrobe has to balance that Jang Nara needs a suit, and she needs to look professional. But she can't look so elegant and impressive that VIP clients feel like she is trying to show them up. Additionally, because Jang Nara's character values function over fashion, the options for her are limited.
The wardrobe department behind "VIP" has dealt with this issue by chiefly changing the color, rather than the style of Jang Nara's clothes on a scene by scene basis. This allows tonal consistency between the visual color and the scene's overall mood. Earrings have also been critical for allowing minor variations, and staff have described picking the right one to be a great deal of fun.
But also critical to the wardrobe selection process is Jang Nara herself and the grace she brings to the drama. Matching the wadrobe to Jang Nara's projected image is the main important aspect of the work. Maintaining the brightness of Jang Nara's skin has also been critical to emphasizing her character concept. "VIP" airs on Monday and Tuesday nights on SBS.
