[HanCinema's News] Jung Il-woo Talks About his Experience on "Haechi"

Two weeks after the end of "Haechi" Jung Il-woo has been making rounds in interviews talking about his career. Life has been busy for him since repatriating into the normal South Korean population in late November. Jung Il-woo had to do charity work, rather than mandatory military service, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

In "Haechi", his return drama, Jung Il-woo took on the role of Prince Yeoning, who later becomes King Yeongjo. Jung Il-woo has been frank in how this project was difficult - little surprise because of it being a historical drama. Still, Jung Il-woo had high respect for other actors on the project as well as writer Kim I-yeong and director Lee Yong Suk, and said that he enjoyed his time working with them.

Jung Il-woo had especially strong praise for Kim I-yeong's scenario, as no one had written a story about young King Yeongjo before. Still, while he wanted to show the charms of the real life sovereign, Jung Il-woo felt that the work was difficult and not easy. He namedropped Lee Kyung-young and Jung Moon-sung has supportive inspirations when it came to his performance.

Jung Il-woo went on to discuss how he always wants to have a bright-eyed approach to acting. He mentioned his debut in the situation comedy "High Kick" and how dedicated he was even to the silliest nuances. He mentioned the screenwriters for that drama as being big influences on his acting style, as he talked to them about his character.

Jung Il-woo also described the set of "Haechi" as being like a war zone, but insisted on taking the difficulty of the production with stride. Nothing came easy. Jung Il-woo's main regret was the earlier part of the drama before he could really get into the character and give the role his absolute best.
