[HanCinema's News] Kim Sae-ron Fined 15,000 Dollars for Drunk Driving

On March 8th, final judgment was rendered in the case of Kim Sae-ron, who had been accused of drunk driving last year. The event had a disastrous effect of Kim Sae-ron's career. The former child star's last major role was "The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim" in 2021, and "The Great Shaman Ga Doo-shim - Season 2" has been on indefinite hold since the incident. Though Kim Sae-ron pleaded for leniency due to these hardships, the presiding judge nevertheless levied a fine of fifteen thousand dollars.

The prosecutors requested a harsh sentence on account of the fact that Kim Sae-ron fled the scene of an accident and had an exceptionally high blood alcohol level- .2%. The case was so severe that even Kim Sae-ron's passenger, a non-celebrity whose identity was not known, also received a fine for around four thousand dollars. The prosecutor noted that the punishment could have been harsher but Kim Sae-ron was a first-time offender who expressed sincere remorse and reconciled with the victims.

Kim Sae-ron's lawyer claimed that she has reflected on and feels regret in regard to her actions. Kim Sae-ron will purportedly strive not to engage in such behavior in the future. Apparently, she has sold all her automobiles and won't be able to drive anymore. Kim Sae-ron's lawyer also stated that Kim Sae-ron had never driven drunk before this incident, and had always requested a designated driver even for short distances.

Following her exit from the court, Kim Sae-ron responded to questions from reporters by saying "I'm sorry" with tears streaming down her face. The incident in question took place on May 18th last year at around eight in the morning. Kim Sae-ron repeatedly hit a tree and transformer with her vehicle before fleeing. Two days after the accident Kim Sae-ron made a statement that there was no excuse for her behavior and that she was deeply ashamed of herself.

At the time Kim Sae-ron was expected to appear in the SBS television drama "Trolley" and the Netflix series "Bloodhounds" but was removed from both projects following the incident. Kim Sae-ron does not currently have an agency contract and is considered to be inactive. Kim Sae-ron mentioned to reporters after leaving the courtroom that she has been working part-time jobs recently.
