In many parts of South Korea, including the more rundown parts of Seoul, holed coal briquettes remain the primary source of heating for many households. Getting enough briquettes to people to heat homes in these neighborhoods is a tedious process, so charity groups are often organized for the specific tasks of delivering them.
Ko So-young appears to be expressing pride in her children for participating in this task. Even into February, winter has been very cold in South Korea this year.
