[HanCinema's News] Late November Loaded With New Dramas

A large number of dramas are starting in the latter part of November this year. "Chocolate", a romance led by Yoon Kye-sang and Ha Ji-won, and "Stove League", a sports drama headlined by Namkoong Min will both be starting on November 29th and running on Friday and Saturday nights.

But the first new drama on the schedule will be "Psychopath Diary". The serial killer themed tvN drama will follow up "Miss Lee" on tvN on November 20th for Wednesday and Thursday nights following the conclusion of "Miss Lee" this week. November 27th will see other newcomers in that timeslot with the romantic comedy "Love With Flaws" and the financially themed thriller "9.9 Billion Woman".

The sheer variety of concepts for the dramas this season is a noteworthy distinction. All of them have extremely strong concepts with little overlap. Only "Chocolate" and "Love With Flaws" are anything close to resembling each other, as both are romances, but the former is expected to have a more melancholic tone with older leads, while the latter project more cheerfully centers around younger actors.

"Defective People" has probably the weakest concept of the bunch, being a relatively generic romantic comedy about superficial people. However, it has gained unfortunate attention onto itself due to the public nature of lead actor Ahn Jae-hyun's feud with his wife Koo Hye-sun, and the resulting rumors of a tense shooting environment. It remains difficult to speculate what positive or negative effect this could have on ratings.
