On May 16, King Kong by Starship confirmed that actress Lee Da-yeon, who is represented by the talent agency, will appear in the upcoming television drama "Durian's Affair" on TV Chosun. "Durian's Affair" is a fantasy melodrama starring Park Joo-mi in the title role as Durian, a lady of the Joseon era who finds herself brought to the present day. Screenwriter Im Sung-han of TV Chosun's popular "Love ft. Marriage and Divorce" series is directing the project.

Lee Da-yeon will play the role of Kim So-jeo, Durian's daughter-in-law. So-jeo has been described as decisive but gentle and overall obedient to the will of her mother-in-law. This will be the first major role for Lee Da-yeon that is her own character, and not a younger version of the lead. The nineteen-year-old actress previously played the younger version of Lim Soo-jung's character on "Search: WWW" in her acting debut.

Other roles for Lee Da-yeon include the younger version of Jeon In-hwa's character on "Homemade Love Story" in 2020 and the younger version of Kim Ji-hyun-II's character on "Thirty-Nine" last year. Lee Da-yeon also had a small, but named role on "Melancholia" in 2021 where she played Kyung Soo-young, a snobby but charming student. "Durian's Affair" is expected to premiere on TV Chosun sometime in June.
