[HanCinema's News] Lee Jong-suk and Lee Ji-eun Make Personal Statements to Fans on their Relationship

Following official confirmation from their agencies that Lee Jong-suk and Lee Ji-eun are dating, both stars took to their fan cafes in order to give personalized statements to their fans explaining their actions. Lee Jong-suk was frank and humble- he admitted that his first relationship was in his mid-twenties, and that he was past puppy love, though he regrets that relationship didn't work out. But Lee Ji-eun was different, he claimed, as she was a longtime friend.

Lee Jong-suk also said that Lee Ji-eun has always been a weird friend to him. Apparently, Lee Ji-eun seemed to have a good grasp of how his own fans think. Lee Jong-suk also directly compared Lee Ji-eun to the character played by Lee Na-young in "Romance is a Bonus Book" which was the last leading role either of them had in a romance drama. Lee Jong-suk claimed that much like his character, the love process was so gradual he wasn't sure when it happened.

Lee Jong-suk also mentioned missing his partner when pushing her away, reclaiming time with her, and remembering forgotten time. It was unclear whether Lee Jong-suk used this analogy because "Romance is a Bonus Book" itself sparked his romantic interest in Lee Ji-eun. It's also possible that Lee Jong-suk used this analogy because he could be confident that his fans, who are likely to have seen the television drama, would understand it.

Lee Ji-eun's statement was less elaborate. She wrote that they had relied on each other as friends for a long time. Lee Ji-eun claims that Lee Jong-suk's always been very supportive of her, describing her actions as "cool, cool" and that she thought his childish cheerleading was very cute. Lee Ji-eun said that his overflowing enthusiastic pride in her even during recent toxic events in her life led to her getting closer to him.

The relationship between Lee Jong-suk and Lee Ji-eun has been a topic of hot interest ever since it was confirmed on New Year's Day. Comments from both performers over 2022 have taken on a new context, as they appear to be referring to each other in generally vague romantic statements. Lee Jong-suk's fan cafe statement in particular seems to suggest that no exact date has been given for the start of their relationship because neither of them are actually sure when exactly it started.
