On June 28th Studio Dragon confirmed that much of the filming for "Alchemy of Souls" had been completed in Moongyeong last year. The announcement was made as part of a new initiative by the greater Moongyeong area to promote the sets and locations of the fantasy historical drama for tourist purposes. Moongyeong is a small city in North Gyeonsang province which encompasses both urban and rural areas as well as a large amount of older historical buildings.

The sets for "Alchemy of Souls" will open for public display in November. In a recent interview, the art director of "Alchemy of Souls" claimed that Moongyeong was selected as a shooting location due to the kingdom where the action takes place being described as the land of the great lake. However, he did not specify the name of the shooting location, only describing the Silla Kingdom centered in Gyeongju as having appropriate architecture due to its emphasis on coexistence with water.
The plan is a part of a greater project in the nearby area to focus on the principles of ESG- Environment, Social, and Governance. Further collaboration between Studio Dragon and Moongyeong is expected to better facilitate the project. "Alchemy of Souls" airs on Saturday and Sunday evenings in South Korea with new episodes appearing on Netflix worldwide shortly thereafter. It had ratings of 6.841% in its most recent episode, the fourth, which aired on June 26th.
