Historicals take over the later year

The drama market in the start of the year was a depression. According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on the 26th, the only dramas that rated over 20% were KBS 1TV "Smile, Dong-hae", SBS "Secret Garden" and KBS 2TV "Believe in Love".
However, great masterpieces have been prepared for the later half of the year. Every broadcasting company has a historical and they are aiming for a counterattack. Return of star producers and writers also upgrade the anticipation.
◇ Romantic comedy historicals
Right now SBS drama "Warrior Baek Dong-soo" is doing well. It is fighting for the leading position of Monday and Tuesday dramas with "Miss. Ripley" which is almost at end. KBS 1TV "Gwanggaeto the Great" has risen to the mid 10%.
"The Princess' Man" is a Chosun time "Romeo and Juliet" as the son and daughter of two enemies fall in love with each other but can't come true together.
About the renowned General Gyebaek during the Baekjae times, "Gyebaek" is a traditional drama. Lee Seo-jin and Cho Jae-hyun have been cast for the roles of General Gyebaek and King Eui-ja. "Deep-rooted Tree" is based into the Sejong times about the series of murders that happened in the palace for 7 days.
◇ The return of star producers and writers
Moon Yeong-nam is also returning with the SBS weekend drama "Live in Style" in a year after "Three Brothers". Legend of 50% viewer rating, Kang Eun-kyeong and producer Lee Jung-seob are returning with KBS 2TV drama "Glory Jane".
Duo of "Queen Seon-deok" Kim Yeong-hyeon and Park Sang-yeon wrote "Deep-rooted Tree". Producer Jang Tae-yoo is in charge of production. "Jumong" producer Lee Joo-hwan and writer Choi Wan-gyoo are coming forward with MBC drama "Lights and Shadows". It is based on the 1960s Vietnam War.
