[Hot Takes from the Noonas] Is the second season of "Drinking Alone" canceled?

2017/05/11 | 1156 views | Permalink

The news about "Drinking Alone Season 2" has gone from good to bad to noncommittal as tvN neither confirms nor denies that the slice-of-life drama about drinking is canceled.

Plans of a second season of "Drinking Alone" had been all but confirmed when the news broke last month that the family of an assistant director who had committed suicide shortly after filming wrapped on the first season was demanding an apology from parent company, CJ E&M. The family alleged that not only were the typically long hours on set to blame, but also verbal abuse and bullying suffered at the hands of the production team.

Meanwhile, it appears that they've chosen to quietly shut down "Drinking Alone Season 2", either to distract from the controversy or because the irony of creating a show about how drinking gets people through their hard times was too much for them. In response to reports that production had been shut down, the official line from tvN is that nothing is confirmed one way or the other. In the meantime, I'm going to guess we'll never find out if Park Ha-na (Park Ha-sun) gets any better at teaching, or if Jin Jeong-seok (Ha Seok-jin) learns not to be a jerk.

Love,

Only of Noonas Over Forks
