[Interview] Lee Joo-bin on "She Would Never Know", "It Was Interesting"

2021/04/01 Source

"At first, I fell in love with the title. It had power I could never forget once I heard it. The more I read the script, the more I wondered how this story would go. It was a role I've never played before, and I was interested in the character who had everything she wanted.

Actor Lee Joo-bin (32) played the role of Lee Hyo-joo, the granddaughter of the founder of the cosmetics brand Claire in JTBC's Wednesday-Thursday drama "She Would Never Know".

She is a gold spoon with everything, but she is obsessed with her first love Lee Jae-shin (Lee Hyun-wook-I). She is also a character of a chaebol family, but a person with loneliness in her strong pride.

Lee Joo-bin said, "I felt sorry for Hyo-joo, who doesn't know how to give love and can't be loved".

"After three years in the drama, Hyo-joo has already broken her frame and became a person who can understand and think about others", she said. "I think Hyo-joo's passion and determination have widened her view of the world, so she will live happily and confidently".

About the synchronization between her and Lee Hyo-joo, she said, "The initial setting of Lee Hyo-joo has changed several times since then, but the big frame was that she is a character who has everything she wants".

"So rather than preparing for something, I was curious about woman who has everything she wanted but still lacked something, and I've seen a lot of movies like that. Hyo-joo and I have little synchro rate, but our pride in work, determination, drive, etc. are similar".

When asked about the most memorable scene, she pointed out, "The scene in the third episode, where I scold my friends who talk badly about Jae-shin". The reason is that "It was a scene where she told them not to hate-talk about the person she loves, and I liked Hyo-joo's mindset that put more importance on the life that she currently lives in than the environment or background she grew up in".

In the drama, Lee Hyo-joo stood out for her colorful fashion. Lee Joo-bin laughed, saying, "It is a splendid sight that can be recognized from 100 meters away".

"It's not too feminine, it's a good mix of glamour and chic. The bold accessories, bold and colorful patterns and designs were the main points. But I actually like sweatpants, jeans, knitted clothes and hoodies".

The atmosphere at the site was warm. In particular, she already knew Rowoon and Lee Hyun-wook-I. Lee Joo-bin said, "When we acted together, I realized I had a lot to learn from them".

In particular, with Lee Hyun-wook-I, who plays Lee Jae-shin, who showed melodramatic breathing in the play, she said, "I felt that the offbeat was natural because we were in a relationship from the beginning to the end. It was a little difficult, but I thought we worked well".

As for Won Jin-ah, "I met her for the first time through this work, and she is a good actress who makes the other actors feel comfortable, so I enjoyed being with her. So when the four of us met, the atmosphere was so good that it was hard to act emotionally because we joked around a lot".

Lee Joo-bin began her career as an actress with SBS's "Whisper" in 2017, starting with her appearance in the music video of SS501 in 2008. Since then, she has made her face known clearly by playing the role of Gye-hyang in tvN's "Mr. Sunshine" in 2018 and Lee So-min in JTBC's "Be Melodramatic" in 2019.

She looked back on the difficult times, saying, "I couldn't do any work or acting for several years. I'm so happy these days when I'm working with good people, playing various works and characters.

Lee Joo-bin, who is preparing for a completely new transformation with her next film, is greedy and has many dreams. "I want to challenge genres like thriller, horror, and fantasy that I haven't tried yet. I also want to experience professional jobs such as criminal and medical materials, she said.

"I really like the works of Park Yeon-seon and Kim Eun-hee-I, so I really want to work with them one day", she added.
