Jo Byeong-gyu has joined the cast of "Girls' Generation 1979", a drama based in 1970s Daegu that focuses on a group of girls and their lives. The drama is expected to be nostalgic for those who were born 70s and 80s.

Jo Byeong-gyu takes on the role of Lee Jeong-hee's (Bona) twin brother named Lee Bong-soo. He forges his report cards, roller blades, and goes to the dermatologist for his pimples. He is Lee Jeong-hee's twin but because he's a son, he gets all the attention in the family.

Jo Byeong-gyu is a rookie actor who was recently in the dramas "Queen for 7 Days", "Age of Youth 2" and "Drink, Sing and Dance".
