Actress Kang Ye-won plays a lead character who fights to escape a group of kidnappers in a new thriller to be released next week.
"Watching" sets itself apart from other thrillers in that it portrays a female victim as a proactive character who strives to find her way out, battling constant threats and fear in an underground parking lot without an exit.
At a press event for the film in Seoul on Wednesday, Kang said that understanding how it tries to be different, "I worked hard to look unintimidated and independent, thinking only about the way to escape and survive".
Director Kim Sung-gi-I said he wanted to show how a mundane place can turn into a hell when someone is kidnapped in the parking lot of her company she uses every day without any sense of danger.
"Watching" hits theaters here on April 17.
