MBC's Friday-Saturday drama "Kokdu: Season of Deity" is a romance between a false god named Kkokdu (Kim Jung-hyun), who comes down to the earth every 99 years to punish humans, and a doctor named Han Gye-jeol (Im Soo-hyang) who has mysterious abilities. Kim Dasom, a former member of the group Sistar, will play good girl Tae Jeong-won, and An Woo-yeon will play Gye-jeol's younger brother and detective Han Cheol. Kim In-kwon plays Ok Sin, who assists Gye-jeol, and Cha Chung-hwa plays Gak Sin, who is quick-witted. Lee Jung-jun plays Gye-jeol's ex-boyfriend, Jeong I-deun. Lee Ji-han-I was initially cast for this role but he passed away in the Itaewon Disaster so Lee Jung-jun is his replacement.

Kim Jung-hyun will return to the small screen for the first time in more than a year and a half after the controversy over his private life erupted. In July last year, he was gaslighted by his ex-girlfriend Seo Yea-ji. In the MBC TV drama "Time" (2018), he dropped out due to health problems, and it was argued that there were problems with his attitude at the time of filming. He returned after more than a year later, appearing in "Crash Landing on You" (2019-2020) and "Mr. Queen" (2020-2021), but stopped his activities due to the issue.

"Kokdu: Season of Deity" is written by Kang Yi-hun and Heo Joon-woo-I from "Less Than Evil" (2018~2019). Director Baek Soo-chan of "Reunited Worlds" (2017) and director Kim Ji-hoon-XIV of "Check Out the Event" (2021) will take the megaphone. It will be broadcasted as a follow-up to "Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow", starring Kim Young-dae.
