KIM's East-Western Set for Gala NA Premiere

The North American premiere of Kim Jee-woon's eagerly anticipated 'oriental western' "The Good, the Bad, the Weird", will have a Gala showing at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this September. Running the 4th to 13th, TIFF is the top film festival in North America and one of the world's most prestigious, along with Cannes, Venice, and Berlin.

KIM's western, which had its World Premiere at Cannes this May, is the first Korean film to receive a Gala screening at the Toronto fest. Other Korean films, such as "Secret Sunshine", "The King and the Clown" and "M" have enjoyed screenings in TIFF's World Cinema section.

"The Good, the Bad, the Weird" will be released locally on July 17th. The film, revolving around a treasure map, stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Byung-hun and Jung Woo-sung and is set in Manchuria during the Japanese colonial period. The CJ Ent.-backed film is a Barunson Film Division and Grim Pictures production. It has already sold to 11 nations, with CJ handling international sales.
