Kim Tae-hee Participates in Fashion Show in North Korea

A fashion show featuring over 20 models, including top stars such as Kim Tae-hee and Choi Ja-hye, was held on May 26 at noon inside the Gaeseong Industrial Complex in Gaeseong City, North Hwanghae Province. The show was attended by hundreds of people from South and North Korea.

The models showcased more than 100 items during a 20 minute presentation. North Korean representatives and workers, witnessing a fashion show for the first time, were impressed to see the models wearing clothes that were manufactured in the Gaeseong Complex.

The show was held to mark the completed construction of factories in the Gaeseong Complex, and was attended by over 500 people including Shin Won Chairman Park Sung-chul, Hyundai Group Chairman Hyun Jung-eun, Hyundai Asan Vice Chairman Kim Yun-kyu, Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business Chairman Kim Yong-koo, and North Korean officials from the Central Special Zone Development Bureau overseeing the complex.

Shin Won relocated to the Gaeseong Complex in June of last year, and completed the construction of a plant there last January. The company's products manufactured in Gaeseong have been sold nationwide since March. Shin Won's Gaeseong factory has 281 employees with an average monthly salary of about US$57. The company plans to manufacture 20 percent (20,000 items per month) of its total production in Gaeseong.
