Kim You-jeong`s Novel Adapted into TV Drama

This year marks the 100-year anniversary of the birth of a novelist who was a great influence in Korea's history of literature, Kim You-jeong.

Among the various events commemorating the anniversary, KBS 1TV's "HDTV Works of Literature" are preparing "Love in Spring", a dramatization of the author's original novel, "Bom Bom". Love in Spring will be aired March 3rd at 10:00 p.m.

This TV drama is a modernization of the original "Bom Bom" novel and how it would be depicted in 2008. It is set in the present, but the basic plot and characters remain the same. The concept of a matriarch-centered society with a cast including the lead character, "Byung-soo", (Yoon Hee-seok) living under the roof of his wife's family; the wife's father (Park Geun-hyung) who takes advantage of the situation; and the woman pulling all the strings (Lee Kyung-jin).

Love in Spring portrays Byung-soo's simple-minded perspective on a matriarchal society and the love that blossoms within it.

KBS set the production goal at 100 episodes when they first began "HDTV Works of Literature" in 2005.

KBS has brought numerous works of Korean literature to the small screen, such as "Sonaki", "The Post Horse Curse", "The Outdoor Lamp", "The Buckwheat Season", and "The Flag". This year, the program list will include dramatizations of novels such as Love in Spring and "Son of a Man".
