Kimchi and ginseng as game items make inroads into the Japanese market

Korean traditional foods such as Kimchi and ginseng seem to have garnered yet another Korean Wave in Japan. But this time, the Korean Wave will be not being created through tourism or shopping but games.

Lineage 2, an online game enjoying popularity among Japanese users, is to attract more attention from Japanese users by inserting Kimchi and ginseng in the game as new items.

aT (Agricultural Fisheries Trade Corporation, CEO Jang-bae Yoo) and NC Soft (CEO Taek-jin Kim, http://www.ncsoft.com) announced the formation of a strategic partnership, through which to promote Kimchi and ginseng, by making them game times.

Their strategy is to provoke interest in Korean food culture by making the users aware of the benefits of Kimchi and ginseng while playing the game.

An employee of NC Soft said, "Depending on how much we can achieve from the marketing campaign, aT and NC Soft will expand their marketing activities to let people know the excellence of Korean agricultural and fishery products and thus increase the demand for those products in Japan".
