KOFFLA awards prize to God is D_ad

The Korean Film Festival in L.A. (KOFFLA) concluded its 4-day run March 7 with an awards ceremony presenting the best Korean-American feature prize to Abraham LIM's "God is D_ad". The director's third feature had its world premiere at Korea's PiFan (Puchon Int'l Fantastic Film Festival) in 2009 and is currently touring US festivals including San Jose's Cinequest and the San Francisco Asian-American Film Festival.

"God is D_ad" was supported by KOFIC's independent production support fund for overseas Koreans. LIM, a protégé of Robert Altman, edited the late great director's 1999 film Cookie's Fortune, before making his award-winning debut Roads and Bridges (2001), which Altman executive produced. LIM currently resides in South Korea where he is developing his next project "Soul Station", a horror set primarily in Seoul's subway system.

KOFFLA also awarded Korean-American director Moo-young KIM for his short film "Slow Day". During its run the festival screened over 60 features and short films by Korean filmmakers. KOFFLA was launched and is supported by KOFIC, along with the Korea Tourism Organization and the Korean Cultural Center in L.A.
