Korea's oldest national flag will be exhibited to the public to celebrate Liberation Day on Thursday.

The flag will be put on display at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul for a week until Aug. 21.

The historic flag is the oldest among all surviving national flags.

It was given by King Gojong of the Chosun Dynasty to his American diplomatic adviser Owen Denny as a parting gift when Denny left Korea in 1890 and was later returned by one of his descendants in 1981.
