"Hello Orchestra", which aired on MBC last year, won the award for the Best Arts Programming at the annual awards ceremony in New York on Monday.

The documentary focuses on a group of kids from multicultural families in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, who form an orchestra with violist Richard Yong-jae O'Neill. Independent producer Cenmedia filmed it over the space of a year.

Due to its strong reception, it was subsequently remade into an 80-minute theatrical version, which is to be released on Thursday.

The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has been hosting the International Emmy Awards since 1973 to introduce high-quality foreign programs to U.S. viewers.
