An underworld drilling prodigy leads an oil heist to drill into the biggest pipeline known as the country's "artery", pushing his luck against a catastrophic explosion and corporate greed.
Korea has over 1,200km of pipeline that acts as the country's artery. There are several individuals who make the headlines by tapping into this network in order to siphon oil. Drill-bit is a drilling prodigy who is offered by Geon-woo, the head of an oil refining company, a large sum of money for completing the impossible heist to drill into the pipeline between Honam and Seoul-Busan highway within a month. To get the job done in time, he puts together a team of misfits: civil engineer 'Mr. Na', excavation expert 'Big Shovel', and welding expert 'Folder'. And just as the cops get a wind of this oil heist, Drill-bit's mine collapses, his team gets cornered from all sides. As the operation gets delayed from setbacks, Geon-woo threatens their lives. Drill-bit's group promises to get the job done in 2 days but Geon-woo plans to blow up both the oil tank and Drill-bit's group after the oil has been siphoned...

The Chun-dang family is known for the virtue of their ladies. The matriarch of the household puts all her energy into maintaining its honor. Meanwhile, the lady Yeon-ji is unable to bear children. The matriarch oppresses Yeon-ji's fundamental rights and instincts with her self-righteousness and stubbornness. In order to carry on the family lineage, the matriarch brings a surrogate woman into the house. Finally, the matriarch, who values the honor and dignity of her noble household above life itself, demands Yeon-ji to kill herself. Unable to escape her fate, Yeon-ji hangs herself on the tree where defiled women are hanged.

The widower Choi is impotent. He adopts the infants Moon and Soo-ryeon and raises them. Moon graduates from college in Seoul but he can't adjust to Seoul life so he returns to Choi's home. Moon learns that Soo-ryeon is not his sister in blood and he falls in love with her. When Choi discovers Moon and Soo-ryeon meeting secretly, he forces Moon back to Seoul. Moon meets the dancer Sook on his way and returns home. Since Moon is at home, Choi sends Soo-ryeon away. Soo-ryeon is unable to forget her home so she returns home on a day that is raining cats and dogs. Underneath a steel bridge, Soo-ryeon is raped by Jong-soo and ends up dead. Meanwhile, Moon had left home when Soo-ryeon died. He is returning home when he discovers.
