Korean War Memorial Park to be built in Gangwon Province

A memorial park will be constructed in "Punch Ball", a site of fierce battle in Yanggu County, Gangwon Province, to remind future-generation Koreans of painful lessons from the Korean War, and to honor fallen war heroes who fought for South Korea.

According to the national coalition for Korean War Park and Yanggu ward office, they will sign a memorandum of understanding on the memorial park on Friday and set to mobilize funds in earnest to construct the memorial. The memorial will be built in the township of Haean, Yanggu County.

The facility will house a memorial hall, a hall on Korean War literature, national memorial halls for the 16 countries that dispatched combat troops and five nations that sent medical units to help South Korea.
