The 12th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival (PiFan) came to a close Sunday Jul. 27 after a thrilling 10-day run. This year's fest brought 1978 official guests to the city of Bucheon, a record number for PiFan, helped along by the addition of its first project market called Network of Asian Fantastic Films (NAFF2008).
PiFan's always exciting official competition section saw 12 high quality films vying for cash prizes, with top honors this year going to a stand-out Korean film that has already shaken up local audiences and won a slew of awards. Sleeper hit The Chaser, directed by
Na Hong-jin in his feature debut, captured the "Best of Puchon" prize along with two more awards, making it the night's big winner.

On Wednesday July 23rd, concluding a four-day run, the results of NAFF's project development market 'It Of the 19 projects in the market, an international jury of three selected four projects to US $10,000 for production support. They included two Korean projects:

Do you need a break from the hot summer season? Public and cable television broadcasters have prepared horror programs just for the occasion.
The Korea Broadcasting System (KBS) is offering a polished version of "Korean Ghost Stories", a local horror program that first aired in 1977. While many horror films or dramas contain basic elements like murderers, ghosts and lots of blood, this show will offer horror with a hint of Korean tradition. A total of eight different episodes will be presented with different plots and backdrops, all related to Korean traditional myths and folk tales.
An episode called
"Korean Ghost Stories - 2008 - Nine-Tailed Fox" will show the creepy tale about a young woman who was brutally murdered by her own brother. The women dies, but she is reincarnated as the legendary gumiho, or a fox with nine tails. Legend says that the gumiho can transform into anything.
