Jang Dong-yoon (장동윤)+ FollowLee Doo-hak - He was born as the son of a peasant in a quiet and small village in Yeosu. For that reason, Doo-hak naturally grows up serving Cheol-woong like a young master. He even went to school a year late to go to school with Cheol-woong, but they are the closest of friends, growing up together like brothers since childhood. 이두학 - 여수의 한적하고 작은 마을, 소작농의 아들로 태어났다. 철웅을 이겨서는 안되기에 자신을 누르며 살아야 했던 스마트한 두뇌의 소유자. 주인과 하인이 없는 세상이 되었지만, 아버지는 독립운동가 주인집 은혜를 많이 입었다며 여전히 철웅 집안을 상전으로 모시며 살았다. 그 때문에 두학은 성장하면서 자연스럽게 철웅을 도련님처럼 모시며 자라난다. 심지어 철웅과 학교를 같이 다니기 위해 학교를 1년 늦게 들어갈 정도였지만, 어릴 적부터 형제처럼 자라온 철웅과는 둘도 없는 친구였다. 또한 타고난 싸움 실력으로, 두학은 철웅의 든든한 보디가드였다. 그렇게 두학은 공부만 계속 할 수 있다면 그저 행복하기만 한 학창 생활을 보내고 있었다. 우연히 철웅과 함께 성인 영화를 보러 극장을 찾은 날, 두학은 정신을 처음 만난다. 방과 후 부모님을 도와 농사일만 하던 두학. 서울에서 내려왔다는 소녀, 정신을 본 순간 머릿속으로 휙 바람이 불며 신분에 눌려 살던 자신의 찌꺼기들을 한꺼번에 날려버렸다. 두학은 사랑에 빠졌다. 그건 마치 번개를 한 번 보면 알 듯, 한눈에 알 수 있었다.
Seol In-ah (설인아)+ FollowOh Jeong-sin - Daughter of Namhae Theater who grew up with Doo-hak and Cheol-woong. She has thick hair with light brown waves, large black eyes, long eyelashes, and curious eyes. Following a clear-looking forehead and lively red cheeks, she has a soft white neck, and her mouth is small, but she proudly says what she wants to say. The reason Doo-hak and Cheol-woong fell in love with Jeong-shin at a glance was because of the original charm derived from her high self-esteem rather than her appearance looking beautiful. Even as she talks, Jeong-shin smiled and expresses tens of thousands of emotions with expressions, leaning forward to read and listen to the other person's thoughts at moments, or sends quick looks. The secret and magic of beauty that only she has is the smile, the expression, the delicate and elegant movements, and her laughter and voice. Jeong-shin is asked out by Doo-hak and Cheol-woong at the same time, but she brings herself the initiative in the situation. She asks them to be friends for a year first. 오정신 - 두학, 철웅과 함께 자란 남해극장 딸. 정신의 외모를 조목조목 묘사한다면, 옅은 갈색이 물결치는 숱이 많은 머리카락에 크고 까만 눈동자, 긴 속눈썹과 호기심 가득한 시선을 가졌다. 명석해 보이는 이마와 생기 어린 붉은 볼에 이어 부드러운 하얀 빛의 목이 있었으며, 입은 작지만 하고자 하는 얘기는 당당히 말했다. 두학, 철웅이 한 눈에 정신에게 반하게 된 이유는 반드시 외모가 아름다워 보였기보다는 정신이 가지고 있는 높은 자존감에서 비롯된 원래의 매력 때문이었다. 정신은 이야기 도중 웃으면서 표정으로 수만 가지 감정을 표현하고, 혹은 순간순간 상대방의 생각을 읽고 경청하려 몸을 앞으로 숙이기도 하고, 혹은 날쌘 시선을 보내기도 했다. 그녀만이 가지고 있는 아름다움의 비밀과 마법은 바로 그 미소, 그 표정, 섬세하고 우아한 움직임들, 그리고 그녀의 웃음과 목소리였다. 정신은 두학과 철웅에게 동시에 연애하자는 대시를 받았지만, 상황의 주도권을 자신에게 가져왔다. 먼저 1년 간 친구로 지내자고 한 것. 처음엔 두학과 철웅이 재밌는 친구들이라고 생각했을 뿐 운명적인 사랑의 감정이 생길 거라고 전혀 예상치 못했다.
Choo Young-woo (추영우)+ FollowChoi Cheol-woong - A second-generation son of the house that Doo-hak’s family serves. He is quick-witted and smart. In particular, he doesn't want to lose to others, so he tries to beat others by any means even in trivial matters. He wasn’t enemies with Doo-hak from the beginning. On the surface, Cheol-woong and Doo-hak were like lordn and a servant, but Cheol-woong followed him, considering Doo-hak, who protected him, as his own brother. However, Cheol-woong's beloved woman, Jeong-shin chose Doo-hak over him. Doo-hak lost both his life and mind because of Cheol-woong, but Cheol-woong seemed to have lost everything he had to Doo-hak because of Jeong-shin. It was painful. The desire to kneel down and beg for Jeong-shin turns into a black heart over time by time. If Doo-hak continues to get in the way, Cheol-woong promise to deal with it with his own hands.
최철웅 - 두학의 가족이 모시는 주인집의 2대 독자, 눈치가 빠르고 머리가 영민하다. 특히 남에게 지기 싫어해 사소한 일에도 수단 방법을 가리지 않고 남을 이기려 한다. 그가 처음부터 두학과 원수가 되었던 것은 아니다. 겉보기에 철웅과 두학은 상전과 하인 같았지만, 철웅은 우직하게 자신을 지켜주는 두학을 내심 친형처럼 여기며 그를 따랐었다. 하지만 철웅이 사랑하는 여인, 정신이 자신이 아닌 두학을 선택한다. 두학은 철웅 때문에 자신의 인생과 정신을 모두 잃었지만, 철웅은 정신 때문에 자신의 모든 것을 두학에게 뺏긴 것 같았다. 괴로웠다. 정신을 내어달라고 무릎 꿇고 빌고 싶은 심정은 시간이 가며 검은 마음으로 변해간다. 만약 두학이 계속해서 방해된다면, 내 손으로 처리하겠다는 다짐도 하면서•••
Kim Myung-soo-I (김명수)+ FollowLee Joong-ho - Doo-hak’s father, a straightforward and stubborn farmer. He lived under Cheol-woong's grandfather as a servant and became independent, but after liberation, he takes more care of Cheol-woong's house than his own family, saying he is indebted to the grace of his owner. Of course, he is like an uncle to Cheol-woong, but he constantly forces his son, Doo-hak, to sacrifice, and tells him never to go beyond Cheol-woong.
이중호 - 두학의 아버지, 우직하고 고집스러운 농사꾼. 철웅의 할아버지 밑에서 머슴으로 살다가 독립했지만, 해방 이후에 주인의 은혜를 갚는다며, 자신의 가족보다는 철웅의 집을 더 끔찍이 돌본다. 당연히 철웅에게는 삼촌 같은 존재. 하지만 자신의 아들인 두학에게는 끊임없이 희생을 강요하며, 철웅을 결코 넘어서지 말라고 한다.
So Hee-jung (소희정)+ FollowWoman from Jeomam - She is more regretful than anyone else that Doo-hak's talent is suppressed to the stubbornness of her husband, Joong-ho. At the same time, she knows Joong-ho's inner love for Doo-hak better than anyone else. On the one hand, she is realistic, so she believes that the owner's son Cheol-woong will be of great help to the family in the future.

She is an illiterate, but has a brain that can almost memorize the whole scenario. Most male producers are often discouraged in front of her. She is more loyal than any man, and her distribution is big.
차금옥 - 광주 전남지역 영화 독점 배급업자 겸 제작자, 오정신의 스승이다. 언문을 깨치지 못한 문맹이지만, 시나리오를 듣고 거의 외워버리는 두뇌의 소유자. 웬만한 남자 제작자들도 그녀 앞에서 기가 눌리기 일쑤다. 여장부가 아니라 그냥 대장부라는 소리를 들을 정도로 의리가 강하고, 배포가 크다.

함양자 - 정신의 절친이자 차금옥의 조카, 여고시절 브라스밴드를 같이 했던 친구. 지방대학에서 클래식을 전공했지만, 대중가요를 작곡하고 있다. 꿈은 조용필의 노래를 작곡하는 것. 성공하겠다는 일념으로 서울로 가출해 정신과 같이 살며 동고동락한다.
Ahn Jung-hoon (안정훈)+ FollowGo Moon-geun - Cha Geum-ok's butler, who is said to be an influential filmmaker, is just Cha Geum-ok's subordinate. At first, he ignored Jeong-shin, but as she grew, he immediately lowered his tail and maintained his position by courting Jeong-shin as best as he could.
고문근 - 차금옥의 집사, 나름 영향력 있는 영화제작자라고 떠들고 다니지만 그냥 차금옥의 부하. 처음에는 정신을 무시했다가 점점 정신이 성장하자 곧바로 꼬리를 내리고 곰살맞게 비위를 맞추며 자리를 유지한다.
Kang Kyung-hun (강경헌)+ FollowKang Yeo-jin - Cheol-woong's mother, from Seoul. She graduated from college. Her father served as a re-elected lawmaker between the opposition and the ruling party. She grew up rich and married into a rich house, lived without wrinkles and without knowing the world well. Unlike her husband Yeong-sik, who tries to raise Cheol-woong strictly, she cherishes Cheol-woong and is full of desire to rebuild the family that is not what it used to be.
강여진 - 철웅의 어머니, 서울 출신. 대학을 나왔다. 아버지가 야당과 여당을 오가며 재선 국회의원을 지냈다. 부유하게 자랐고 부유한 집으로 시집가 구김살 없이 세상물정도 잘 모르고 살았다. 철웅을 엄하게 키우려는 남편 영식과 달리 철웅을 애지중지하며, 예전같지 않은 집안을 다시 일으켜 세우려는 욕망이 넘친다.
Jeon No-min (전노민)+ FollowHwang Choong-seong - An influential figure of the government, who used to be a brigadier general of a security company. He is unreadable and good at political maneuvering. He was deeply involved with Cheol-woong's mother, Yeo-jin, and they almost got married in his cadet days. However, they separated due to opposition party lawmaker Yeo-jin's father's opposition.
황충성 - 보안사 준장 출신 정권의 실세, 속을 짐작 못하는 능구렁이. 공작정치에 능하다. 철웅의 엄마인 여진과는 육사 생도 시절, 결혼까지 생각할 정도로 깊이 사귀었다. 하지만 당시 야당의원이었던 여진 아버지의 반대로 헤어지게 되었다.
Jin Yi-han (진이한)+ FollowOh Man-ok - Hwang Choong-seong's right arm. Even when Hwang Choong-seong is demoted to the local security department, he volunteers to follow Hwang Choong-seong. Later, when Hwang Choong-seong goes to the Ministry of Security, he becomes an employee of the Ministry of Security and is dispatched as a coordinator of the prosecution office.
오만옥 - 황충성의 오른팔. 황충성이 지방 보안부대로 좌천될 때도 자원하여 황충성을 따라간다. 훗날, 황충성이 안기부로 가게 되자, 안기부 직원이 되어 검찰청 조정관으로 파견된다.
Park Won-sang (박원상)+ FollowChoi Yeong-sin - Cheol-woong's father, a local owner who runs a lumberyard. He has a personality that resembles his father, an independence activist, and sees no injustice. He runs for parliament in opposition to the junta.
최영신 - 철웅의 아버지, 목재소를 운영하는 지역 유지. 독립운동가인 아버지를 닮아, 불의를 보지 못하는 성격. 군사정권에 반대하며 국회의원 선거에 출마한다.
Jang Young-joon (장영준)+ FollowGi Yeong-tak - A bully from another school who bullies Cheol-woong. He flunked a year. He bullies Cheolwoong and steals money from him, and is mobilized by Hwang Choong-seong's maneuvering to throw Choi Yeong-sik off of the campaign.
기영탁 - 철웅을 괴롭히는 타학교 일진, 1년 유급했다. 철웅을 괴롭히며 삥을 뜯다가, 최영식을 낙마시키려하는 황충성의 공작에 동원된다.
