Kwon Sang-woo Visits Japan to Benefit Elderly People

2005/05/02 | 121 views | Permalink | Source

Actor kwon Sang-woo, who benefited Sudanese children in Africa last year and helped treat one of his fans affected with leukemia, visited Japan this time to help elderly Korean-Japanese.

On April 27, the Japanese newspaper Mindan wrote that Kwon was named goodwill ambassador of Korean-Japanese at a charity concert held in Nakano, Japan by the Mugunghwa Family to raise funds for constructing a nursery. Attended by over 2,000 people, the concert also featured singer In Sun-yi, who performed Korean songs of various genres from ballads to folk songs. When Kwon appeared onstage following In's performance, the audience greeted him with an ovation.

"An ideal society is one where elderly people can live without worries. I want to be of help to all those people who work hard to help elderly Koreans residing overseas", said Kwon. At the concert, Kwon received a goodwill ambassador certificate and a globe symbolizing his worldwide fame as an actor. It seems Kwon's good deeds are impressing more than just the fans of his television dramas.
