Staff from drama production company Victory Contents revealed that the remake of "Something Happened in Bali" is slated for sometime in 2018, fourteen years after the 2004 original.

"Something Happened in Bali" is about the life of four young people who discover what is important in this greedy world. Featuring famous actors and actresses such as So Ji-sub, Ha Ji-won, Zo In-sung, Park Ye-jin, and many more, "Something Happened in Bali" was loved by many.

This drama was also famous for turning the love triangle into a love square, which was not so common in K-dramas in 2004. The cliché Cinderella story line was the main foundation; however, the shocking ending is still remembered as one of the most iconic scene in K-drama history. Although some consider the show problematic, many still remember it as one of the greatest dramas aired.

"Something Happened in Bali" hit a record of 40% viewer rating and swept the awards that year including Baeksang Arts awards Best Acting for Zo In-sung and Ha Ji-won, Popularity Award for So Ji-sub, and Best Script for the scriptwriter Kim Gi-ho.

Since this drama has an impressive reputation, there are many people who are opposed to the remake who may even outnumber the people excited for it.

Because of scriptwriter Noh Hee-kyeong's success in the drama "The Most Beautiful Goodbye", a reboot of the 2001 original, some people are feeling positive about the remake of "Something Happened in Bali" as well. Those who oppose believe that the original "Something Happened in Bali" was too good and that there there is no one who can fill the shoes of the original cast.

Since this news of the remake is rousing such a large reaction from viewers, "Something Happened in Bali - 2018" will have to choose their casting and storyline very carefully. Also, it is revealed that Director Choi Moon-seok, who directed the original version, will lead the remake. However, SBS has not yet confirmed if it will air the remake.
