[Lily's Take] Park Hae-jin Cherish his Role Yoo Jeong in "Cheese in the Trap" Series

Actor Park Hae-jin has returned to us as the mysterious and romantic Yoo Jeong yet again. It is so rare for a drama to become a movie and what is even more rare is for an actor to be casted for the same role in both versions. Though, it is extremely hard to imagine Yoo Jeong who is not played by Park Hae-jin. How did this happen?

"Since the original webtoon is so grand, I was a bit unsatisfied when I played Yoo Jeong over just 16 episodes. This time, I acted with a reminder to myself that this is the last time I'll be able to show everything I couldn't in the drama. I was a bit concerned in how I'd be able to express such complicated character like Yoo Jeong, but I think the main points were all present".

Park Hae-jin seemed confident in "Cheese in the Trap - Movie". When he was asked about the difference between the drama and the movie, he answered, "I don't think the movie will be able to give the 100% satisfaction for those who felt disappointed by the drama, however, it will be some sort of a relief The drama version was open and left possibilities for the viewer's imaginations, but the movie version is very straightforward. Also, it became more of a thriller genre".

Regarding the original webtoon author and the artist, Soonkki's reaction, the actor answered, "I actually have not gotten a feedback yet. She doesn't like to show herself so I haven't seen her face to face yet. Like most writers, she communicates through the company".

As the original webtoon fan himself, he understands the feelings of the webtoon fans very well. He highly praised the webtoon and emphasized on the power of the original webtoon.

"In all honesty, I don't think there's any way a movie or drama can hold all that original webtoon offers. "Cheese in the Trap" is all about strategy and psychological factors between people. I did think of wanting to just lay down everything through a web-drama. Not the condensed versions like these, but to have every single detail come true. If that happens, I'll probably won't be starring again though. *laugh*"

Though he laughed at the idea, his honest feelings spoke differently. Park Hae-jin was still holding onto the character Yoo Jeong and cherished him. When the interviewer asked him a question of which junior actor would suit Yoo Jeong in a web-drama, he answered, "The actor who plays Yoo Jeong can't just be handsome. He also needs to have the innocence. There are many great junior actors out there, but I don't really want to give the role to anyone".

When he was asked about the similarity between the character and him, he said, "Really similar. I'm also not the one to be all friendly and warm with people. I am a bit shy and always think that I don't want to look like a pushover. Though, I'm a big pushover in real life so it's hard to hide that side of me. *laugh* People say that Yoo Jeong is two-faced, but as a matter of fact, he is quite simple. Even we are not completely honest with people all the time, so it would be questionable if we can judge him. I actually think he is really honest to his feelings".

"I'm thirty-six years old this year. So, there were some hardships while trying to act Yoo Jeong, who is a college student. Some viewers may feel that through the screen too, but I hope everyone will understand and see me as Yoo Jeong".
