[Local Films With English Subtitles]

■ 3rd USFK Korean Film Festival
Friday and Saturday
The third USFK Korean Film Festival will screen six local movies with English subtitles today and tomorrow for the members of the American armed forces stationed here. The movies will be screened for free at theaters within three of the U.S. military bases _ Yongsan, Camp Humphreys and Osan Air Force Base.

Organized by Seoul Selection, the event aims to introduce Korean culture to American soldiers and their families. The movies shown this year are war film "Taegukgi", horror comedy "To Catch a Virgin Ghost", science fiction film "Chigu-rul Chikyora (Save the Green Planet)", romantic drama "Ino Kongju (My Mother, the Mermaid)," nostalgic melodrama "Hyoja-dong Ibalsa (The President's Barber)" and sentimental melodrama "Kkotpinun Pomi Omyon (Springtime)". Directed by Noh Dong-seok, the movie "My Generation," which has been invited to next year's Berlin Film Festival, revolves around a poor and very introverted couple in their 20s. The man hopes to become a film director but makes a living working at a restaurant while the woman can't hold down a steady job because of her melancholy demeanor. ■ Piano Chinun Taetongryong (The Piano Playing President) (2002)

"The Piano Playing President," a love story between a romantic South Korean president and his daughter's teacher, will be shown along with the Romantic Comedy "Tonggapnaegi Kwawehagi (An Extra Class)," and "JSA - Joint Security Area," a story of friendship between North and South Korean soldiers.
