"Marathon" sweeps South Korea's most prestigious film awards

The tale of an autistic teenager who finds happiness in running marathons was chosen as this year's best movie at South Korea's most prestigious film awards, grabbing awards in a total of six categories.

"Marathon" was given the best picture award at the 42nd Daejong (Grand Bell) Film Festival.

Starring actor Cho Seung-woo, the film won the best actor award, with Chung Yoon-chul also chosen as the best first-time director.

The film also received the best screenplay, best music direction and best production planning awards.

The best director award went to Song Hae-seong for "Rikidozan", a story about a Korean who became a Japanese pro-wrestling legend widely known as Rikidozan among his Japanese fans.

Kim Hye-soo picked up the best actress prize for her role as a woman with a borderline personality disorder in "Faceless Beauty", a thriller about the love between the woman and her perverted psychiatrist.
