MBC President Kim Jae-chul to Step Down

The President of Korean broadcaster MBC has offered to resign.
Kim Jae-chul, who took over in March last year, submitted his letter of resignation to MBC's largest shareholder, the Foundation for Broadcast Culture.
Although the broadcaster said that Kim's decision came to pressure the Korea Communications Commission, which refused to approve a merger of two regional stations, some speculate that Kim stepped down to run in next year's general elections.
