Where in Korea will you find Korea's longest bridge or the tallest building? It's none other than the international city of Songdo, Incheon. Great enough to make it onto the world's top five cities list, Songdo holds a new perspective and is receiving praise for its bold approach in changing the development standards of facilities. In living up to the name of being an" International City", the city is being built based on Korea's best IT environment and another plus is the Ubiquitous (U) equipped traffic system which helps prevents traffic congestion.

Under the slogan of implying Songdo as the heart of Korea, and Incheon to be an economic capital, the city is already receiving international recognition as a great city. With the first Ubiquitous equipped environment and being a model for future cities alike, shall we take a look into this special city?

2011 was a year where we saw Songdo become the first city to equip and exhibit much business in a U-city environment. U-method, Intelligence Traffic System controller, U-mobile, school zone safety services-these are the 4 U-services that have been equipped.

Crime prevention CCTV (security camera system) and CPTED operating CCTV have been installed, an Intelligence Traffic System that gives services to traffic controllers in Songdo from Incheon Traffic Information Center's Network, lower operation costs and there is also a traffic light system that uses the sensors on vehicle detectors.

The school zone safety services in particular have a speed warning system and smart curb system in place for drivers, which use facial emoticons to send warning messages. The most eye-catching item from all these efforts has to be the U-disaster services. On top of the 68-floor Northeast Trade Tower a thermal imaging camera has been placed, in order to gather temperature, humidity, wind direction, and wind speed information all across Songdo.

If there is a big fire or any pollutants being released, or significant changes to standard conditions, the system is able to sense this and alert the appropriate emergency vehicles like police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, etc.

Although all these features of Songdo that were described are amazing, the actual appearance and design will be just as attractive. Songdo is also home to the world's 5th longest bridge, Incheon Bridge, and it has a beautiful night view that is as great as its length. Along with the bridge, there are many other buildings around Songdo that bring great joy.
