ADV Films, a company based in Houston that has frequently distributed Japanese anime in the U.S., has acquired North American rights to Korean animated film My Beautiful Girl, Mari. Directed by LEE Sung-gang, the film tells the story of a young boy in a seaside village who finds himself falling into a world of fantasy. In 2002, Mari won the Grand Prix at the Annecy International Film Festival.

ADV, which publishes the anime magazine Newtype USA, plans to give the film a limited theatrical release in 2004. After that it will screen on ADV's cable channel the Anime Network and be released on home video.
