Actors Um Tae-goo and Lee Hyeri from Girl's Day star in "My Punch-Drunk Boxer", a well-made drama with a little bit of romance, comedy and inspiration. The movie blends pansori (form of musical storytelling) and boxing to create a fresh comedy drama that no one has ever seen before in Korea.

The movie is about a former pro-boxer called Byeong-goo (Um Tae-goo), who stoops down to doing chores for a gym after a mistake he makes in the past, meeting a solid supporter named Min-ji (Lee Hyeri) and getting back up to complete his unfinished dreams.

This unfamiliar combination of pansori and boxing is a creative idea by director Jeong Hyeok-gi. He witnessed a group of people playing the janggu (traditional Korean drum) at a university campus with actor Cho Hyun-chul and wondered what it'd be like to mix it with boxing. This led to the production of a short film in 2014. "My Punch-Drunk Boxer" is a developed version of this short film with more characters and elements.

Um Tae-goo, who is known to play stronger characters in commercial films, took it easy on the charisma and introduced a little cuteness. He pulled off the character so well, it's a shocker he didn't do something like this earlier.

Above all, Um Tae-goo transformed his body to look like that of a boxer's, and fills up the movie with fellow actors Kim Hee-won, Choi Deok-moon, Choi Jun-young-I and others. The running time for "My Punch-Drunk Boxer" is 114 minutes.
