"Night at the Museum" and "The Restless" lead in advance ticket sales

Theaters nationwide are becoming a battle ground for various blockbuster films as the year-end season draws near, and the initial results show that Night at the Museum, a Hollywood blockbuster, and "The Restless", a Korean-made fantasy film, are leading the rest of the pack in advance ticket sales.

Disclosed on Dec. 21 by MaxMovie ( Open the link ), an advance film ticket sales site, the family blockbuster film Night at the Museum has recorded 20.43% reservation rating as of Dec. 21, 12 PM, surpassing The Restless, starred by Jung Woo-sung, and Kim Tae-hee.

Starred by Ben Stiller, Night at the Museum portrays a bumbling security guard at the Museum of Natural History who accidentally lets loose an ancient curse that causes the animals and insects on display to come to life and wreak havoc.

Trailing in the third and fourth top spots were Romantic Holiday (16.88%) and 200-Pound Beauty (16.85%), both of which have been released last week and are continuing to run high in the box office. Happy Feet (11.59%), a sensational musical animation which had squashed Casino Royale in the North American box office, took the fifth spot.

Far from expectations, Casino Royale, a blockbuster action film and the most expensive film in the 007 series produced at 150 M dollars (about KRW 139 billion), recorded a low reservation rating and settled at no. 6.

Following were "Old Miss Diary - Movie" (4.46%) at no. 7, Nativity Story (1.80%) at no. 8, "I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK" (0.23%) at no. 9, and Seducing Mr. Perfect (0.07%) at no. 10.

"Partly due to the winter break season, films that the whole family can watch together like Night at the Museum are popular", said MaxMovie. "It is rather surprising to see Casino Royale, which entailed a huge production cost, to suffer in the box office".
