No. of Moviegoers Hit Record High in August

The number of Korean moviegoers hit a record monthly high in August thanks to box-office hits like "D-War" and "May 18".

According to CGV, the nation's biggest movie theater chain, more than 21.9 million people went to the movies last month, breaking the previous monthly record of 21.4 million set in January 2006.

CGV also said that Korean films accounted for 79.6 percent of total box office sales, the highest since October last year, when the market share exceeded 86 percent.
