A government survey finds that 15 out of a hundred elementary, middle and high school students in South Korea are obese.
The Education Ministry conducted a sample health survey on 87-thousand students at some 750 schools nationwide last year.
The obesity rate of students was 14-point-seven percent, up four tenths of a percent from 2011 and the fifth year in a row to post an increase.
The ministry said less than desirable eating habits are to blame.
Fifty-seven percent of elementary school students and 65 percent of middle and high schoolers had fast food at least once a week and only 30 percent of students ate vegetables daily.
