Official poster of Korean documentary "Old Partner" [Indie Story]
Korean independent film "Old Partner" won the silver award at a TV festival in Shanghai, according to film's distribution company Indie Story on Monday.
Indie Story announced in a press release that "Old Partner", which was competing against seven other pictures for the Magnolia Award under the documentary category, was presented with the silver prize during the closing ceremony of the 16th annual Shanghai TV Festival.
"Blood Relation", about a woman's quest to uncover her family's past, by Noa Ben Hagai, won the gold award at the ceremony.
"Old Partner", a documentary film helmed by director Lee Chung-ryoul [winner of the Rookie Director Award at the Paeksang Arts Awards], is about a relationship between an 80 year-old farmer and his 40 year-old cow.
The picture has won several awards at different film festivals including the Mercenat Award at the Pusan International Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Korean Independent Film Awards, while being the first Korean film to compete under the documentary category at the prestigious Sundance Film Festival.
The Shanghai TV Festival, which began on June 7 to 11, is a prominent awards ceremony in the Asian TV industry, acknowledging and screening the best entries in drama, movies, documentaries and animation.
