[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Kim Nam-gil May Return as a Catholic Menace in "The Fiery Priest"

"The Fiery Priest" has found its favorite titular bundle of disorders, as actor Kim Nam-gil is being courted for the leading role. I hear great things about the man, and having him play what sounds like an incredibly challenging character gives me hope about this production's intentions for its desired quality.

According to Kim Nam-gil's agency, C-JeS Entertainment, the actor is considering the offer positively. If he accepts, he will play Kim Hae-il, a Catholic priest with Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Post-Traumatic Embitterment Disorder. So that's not one, but three conditions Dramaland can get infuriatingly wrong. Sorry, I'll be nice for now. It's just that its track record is shaking my faith.

Although Hae-il's pessimism and cynicism leave his congregation and neighbors dumbfounded, his analytical skills, insightfulness and good judgment of his surroundings are sharp and accurate. Up until 10 years ago, Hae-il was a member of a special anti-terrorism team within the National Intelligence Service and was famous as a terrifying top agent of said Special Forces team 707.

So we have a top agent turned Catholic priest turned investigator? While battling three disorders at the same time. Strength to you, father. The series will reportedly air on SBS in November, so now we wait for more casting and production news. I'm liking where this is going, chaotic premise and all.
