After all the partying going on in previously released posters for "Matrimonial Chaos" (previously known as "The Best Divorce"), it's a nice change of mood to see these four character for who they really are, and the drama opts for a look into their daily lives to achieve it.
The character posters are simple, and they seem rich with information. At the same time, they allow us to guess what that information may be. Did Cha Tae-hyun's Jo Seok-moo want to be a musician? Is that his hobby or escape? Is Bae Doona's Kang Hwi-roo a homebody out of choice, or lack of choice? Is Lee El's Jin Yoo-yeong lonely? And perhaps Sukku Son's Lee Jang-hyeon is making her feel that way by being social without her.
All of the above comes from my own perception of what these posters could mean, which is a good way to pique curiosity. It also adds nicely onto the ongoing theme of what we see not necessarily being true. After all, the joyous posters before these are of people whose marriages are falling apart, even if they look fine on the surface.
With fresh writer Moon Jung-min writing this, it's difficult to know what to expect. Fresh writers have their ups and downs, but a new perspective not yet tainted by industry norms and demands is one of the things I love - and eventually miss - the most about new entries. Let's hope that "Matrimonial Chaos" will be worth the journey.
