[Orion's Daily Ramblings] "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" Releases Campus Quartet Poster and First Teaser

Upcoming inner growth drama "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" has released a colorful and vibrant poster of its four leads and what defines them, at least to begin with, as well as its first teaser. The drama is about a heroine who undergoes plastic surgery to avoid bullying discovering real beauty through a university campus life that turns out very differently than what she had imagined.

The four posters give us short descriptions of the characters. Kang Mi-rae's (Im Soo-hyang) reads "Still clumsy at being pretty - Chemistry Class of '18". Male lead Do Kyeong-seok (Cha Eun-woo), who is in the same class as Mi-rae, is looking mighty punchable, fitting his poster's description as a "godly tsundere". True to tsundere behavior, his nonchalance fades away whenever Mi-rae is near, although I'm already bracing for his male entitlement earning him hate points.

The second leads don't get the honor of Mi-rae's hush hush finger, but they have their own worries. Hyeon Soo-ah (Jo Woo-ri), who is also in the Chemistry Class of '18, boldly states "Jealousy is my strength!" The "campus goddess" is a sly one, so I'm hoping she evolves from the typical hateful second lead. Kwak Dong-yeon's Yeon Woo-yeong is a "Chemical department assistant who specializes in effort", and as you can already tell by the poster setup and the rude Mi-rae manhandling in the teaser, he's the love rival. I guess that's where all that effort is going.

It's all looking so very cliche, but I put my faith in the drama being a jTBC one. Not that the channel hasn't aired problematic rom-coms before, and I'm side-eyeing "Strong Woman Do Bong-soon" something fierce right now, but I hope that there's more than meets the eye to its latest one. "My ID is Gangnam Beauty" will be premiering on July 27th, and I'll give it a little look.
