[Orion's Ramblings] Jung Kyung-ho and Park Sung-woong Talk Chemistry Alongside First Stills for "When the Devil Calls Your Name"

Jung Kyung-ho and Park Sung-woong are reuniting after "Life on Mars" and they bring a whole new world of meaty chemistry with them. The first stills have been released for "When the Devil Calls Your Name", the story of a star composer whose soul contract with the Devil is about to expire reevaluating life when he realizes his success was stolen from a talented young woman.

Jung Kyung-ho ("Prison Playbook", "Missing 9") plays the protagonist, Harib. On his work and chemistry with co-star Park Sung-woong, Jung Kyung-ho commented "Music is mixed into this drama about the soul. Since my casting I've been preparing by taking guitar and vocal lessons. If my chemistry with Park Sung-woong was previously like a thread passing through a needle, this time we will show you a different chemistry governed by a deal that is mutually beneficial, even in a contractual relationship with a power imbalance".

Park Sung-woong ("The Dude in Me", "Hundred Million Stars from the Sky") is the Devil in question wearing the skin of top actor Mo Tae-kang. Park Sung-woong's thoughts were "The setting of human beings, souls, and demons can get heavy and dark, but comical elements were added. Sometimes he becomes a "Cutie Devil", so he's a bit of a charming twist. The relationship with Jung Kyung-ho is completely different than on "Life on Mars". It's an abusive contractual relationship, but it's interesting when I, the Demon, have the lower hand. Even when I don't talk to Jung Kyung-ho, we know exactly what we want. Please look forward to it".

It looks like "When the Devil Calls Your Name" has taken a bit of a tonal turn from being the originally slated occult human melodrama, and I quite welcome a bit of dark comedy in this journey of discovering selflessness. Perhaps this will pull a "Bedazzled" and spare its protagonist's soul after some solid high jinks. I've already sold my drama-soul to this concept, and look forward to the premiere on July 31st.
