According to Seoul Auction on Sunday, a red-dot painting by Kim from 1972 titled "3-II-72 #220" was sold for US$7.9 million at the auction house's sale in Hong Kong (US$1=W1,078).

The six most expensive Korean works of art auctioned so far were all painted by Kim, including his abstract work "Tranquility", which fetched over $6 million last year in Seoul.
