Seoul City Continues to Give Foreigners Korean Names to Promote Hangeul

2019/12/08 | Permalink | Source

Foreigners interested in Korean culture will get an opportunity to receive their own Korean names once again.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government said that it is continuing the program of creating and assigning Korean names to foreigners to promote hangeul, the Korean alphabet. It first ran the program in October to commemorate Hangeul Day.

Those who are interested can apply on the city government's English website until Saturday by submitting a personal story relating to Korea. Some 10 applicants selected will receive their Korean names on Christmas Eve via e-mail.

The city government plans to carry out the program on a monthly basis.
