Shin Jung-hwan sued for fraud

TV-show host Shin Jung-hwan is now being sued for fraud by an acquaintance. Sin is currently under suspicion for gambling overseas and incurring a huge amount of losses, including his passport. He has been condemned by the public for trying to cover it up.
"A Mr. Lee, 44, who claimed to be an acquaintance of Sin, sued him for fraud on the 16th at around 5pm. We are going to start investigations", said Gyeonggi Province's Guri City police department.
"Staring from February to July in 2009, Sin borrowed money from me five times with the total equaling one hundred million won (about 86.1 thousand dollars)", claimed the acquaintance.
The police also reported that Mr. Lee met Sin 7 years ago through a mutual friend and lent Sin money when Sin told him that his entertainment agency was facing financial difficulties.
"Sin said he would pay back the money by selling his mother's apartment near Mt. Nam, Seoul. However, when I visited the same apartment on the 13th, it was already sold to someone else" the written complaint read. "The money was used so Sin could pay off his gambling debts".
The complaint went on to explain that Sin probably borrowed the money to gamble. The accuser said he was suing Sin because Sin has made no attempts to repay the borrowed money.
The police are to begin investigations on the 17th.

해외원정 도박설 및 거짓해명에 시달리고 있는 방송인 신정환이 이번엔 지인에게 사기 혐의로 고소당했다.
경기도 구리경찰서는 "16일 오후 5시쯤 신정환의 지인이라고 밝힌 이 모(44) 씨가 신 씨를 사기 혐의로 고소해 수사를 벌일 예정"이라고 밝혔다.
경찰에 따르면 이 씨는 고소장을 통해 "신정환에게 2009년 2월부터 7월까지 5차례에 걸쳐 총 1억 원을 빌려줬는데 갚지 않고 있다"고 주장했다.
이 씨는 7년 전 지인을 통해 신정환을 알게 됐으며, 신 씨는 '소속된 연예기획사가 자금난을 겪고 있다'며 돈을 빌렸다고 경찰은 전했다.
이 씨는 고소장에서 "신정환이 어머니가 살고 있는 서울 남산의 전셋집을 처분해 빌린 돈을 갚겠다고 했지만 지난 13일 아파트를 방문해 보니 이미 처분된 뒤였고, 전세금은 이미 도박빚 청산을 위해 신정환에게 송금됐다"고 말했다.
그러면서 "지금와서 생각해보니 회사 자금이 부족한게 아니라 모두 도박에 사용한 것 같다"면서 "돈을 갚으려는 의사가 없어 보여 고소장을 접수하게 됐다"고 기재했다.
경찰은 17일 오전 중 이 씨를 불러 조사할 방침이다.
