SK Telecom Garners 1 Million 5G Subscribers

Korea's largest mobile carrier SK Telecom has garnered over 1 million 5G subscribers as of Thursday, about 140 days after it launched the service on April 3.

It became the first mobile carrier to do so among the world's nearly 30 mobile carriers that offer the super-fast mobile phone service.

The increase is much faster than for the 4G LTE service, which took about eight months to reach the milestone in 2011.

Its competitors KT and LG Uplus have around 750,000 and 650,000 subscribers.
