[Spoiler] "Master's Sun", is So Ji-sub dead?

On the twelfth episode of the SBS drama, Tae Dong-sil (Kong Hyo-jin) was almost attacked in the container box which she went into to help out a spirit. Joo Joong-won (So Ji-sub) found out about this and threw his whole body to protect her.

However, he was attacked instead. The attacker stabbed him with a huge nail and he was taken to the hospital, in blood.

Tae Gong-sil waited outside the surgery room, crying for a miracle. Just then, Joo Joong-won appeared in front of her and started talking. He said, "Wow, your as bright as the sun. Am I dead? I'm upset but at least I get to see my woman. I can say...Tae Gong-sil, I love you".

Tae Gong-sil broke down and cried. Is he really dead and did he really appear as a ghost in front of her?
