tvn"s new drama, "Prison Playbook", has begun. It's the first Korean drama to be based in a prison and tells the story of a professional baseball player, Je-hyeok (Park Hae-soo), acclimating to prison life.
Je-hyeok was a star baseball player who was likely to move onto the major leagues. The prison guards expected trouble for Je-hyeok, but it turns out that his fellow inmates were his fans.
However, the welcome didn't last. Freak prisoners like Professor Ma wanted to become blood brothers and they tried to cut him. Je-hyeok screamed in terror, which earned the laughter of the other inmates who took pleasure in their welcome ritual, which involved kimchi soup.
The reason for Je-hyeok's time in jail was that he beat up his sister's rapist. His manager told him to take care of himself and get ready for the new baseball season after the upcoming trial.
Je-ho's first visit was from his mother and Ji-ho (Krystal), his ex-girlfriend. Je-hyeok pretended to be strong in front of his mother, but in front of Ji-ho, Je-hyeok said, "I can't eat and I haven't been able to sleep. I think I'm getting a cold, too". He also pointed out that Ji-ho was too sexy. Ji-ho said, "Why does that concern you? We're not together anymore".
However, Ji-ho started crying and Je-hyeok comforted her saying, "I'm alright. You don't have to come here anymore". Ji-ho replied, "Who says I am? You haven't done anything wrong so don't feel discouraged. We are all on your side".
Je-hyeok's life in prison wasn't going to be easy. He got into a fight with one of the inmates named Galmegi, which almost earned him additional time in jail, but Jo Joo-im (Sung Dong-il) said he could avoid it for the right price.
Je-hyeok ignored the offer and was put in a disciplinary room. Then, he found out that old man who helped him to fight Galmegi was actually a terrible killer.
