[Spoiler] "Saimdang: Light's Diary" Lee Young-ae starts drawing the king's portrait

2017/04/06 Source

Lee Young-ae broke the stereotype in the Joseon times.

On the latest episode of the SBS drama "Saimdang: Light's Diary", Saimdang (Lee Young-ae) became the king's painter.

Saimdang and her daughter Lee Mae-chang were against the idea of male-dominance. Lee Kyeom (Song Seung-heon) on the other hand, did his best to give Saimdang a chance to spread out her talents. In the end, Saimdang came in first as a woman but the government officials were against her becoming the king's painter because she was a woman.

Lee Kyeom got permission from the prince to make Saimdang the king's painter. Saimdang had a private consultation with the king for all those who degraded her. The King (Choi Jong-hwan) called Saimdang close and remembered that she was a bold girl who claimed she was going to go to Geumkang Mountain.

He then mentioned the malice between himself and her father and asked if she will draw his portrait with resentement. Saimdang said she would draw his elegance, nature and soul. The king said he would hold her responsible if the picture turned out bad but Saimdang started drawing anyway.
