Kang Dong-yoon (Kim Sang-joong) got a sentence of 8 years and Baek Hong-seok (Son Hyun-joo) got 15.

The final episode of SBS drama "THE CHASER - Drama" put Kang and Baek on trial.

Prosecutor Choi Jung Woo (Ryu Seung-soo) defended Baek and said, "From now on I am not Baek Hong-seok's lawyer but Baek Soo-jeong's". He announced that he will reveal the truth about the car accident and everything else. At the court he said, "Baek Hong-seok wishes for the truth to his daughter's death to be revealed through his trial".

Choi revealed the truth with witnesses one by one. Doctor Yoon Chang-min (Choi Joon-yong) testified that he injected medication that killed Soo-jeong for a cost of 3 bilion won and Bae Ki-cheol (Ryohei Otani) testified that he stole the blackbox camera from the site of the accident after being allured by Sin Hye-ra (Jang Shin-young).

The final witness was Sin Hye-ra. She claimed she was PK Joon's (Lee Yong-woo) lover. However, Choi Jung Woo acknowledged the fact that she was his lover and cornered her by asking her to put forward evidence that she drove the car on the night of the accident. In the end Sin Hye-ra revealed that the true criminal was Seo Ji-soo (Kim Sung-ryung).

After everything about Baek Soo-jeong's death was revealed, Baek Hong-seok's trial began. He had no choice as a father to have done what he did in loss of his daughter but the court charged him for the murder of PK Joon, escape and others.

On the other hand, Kang Dong-yoon who covered up the truth, killed Baek Soo-jeong who was almost alive, fooled the whole nation and more, only got 8 years. This rule out was hard to tell who the law was made for.
